The SHS is a very active group.

Here are some of the activities the Southampton Historical Society does thru-out the year.

Adopt a Highway

Our group maintains a 2 mile stretch of road in our township thru the PennDOT program "Adopt a Highway". We meet at the township building at 8:00 a.m. the last Saturday of April and October.

Tractor Parade

 Held in June

Election Day

At the May and November elections the SHS serves food from 7:00-7:00 at the township building.  We have our history displays set up and there is always a lot of good food and conversation the entire day.  You are encouraged to bring your photos and other documents for us to scan.  We are currently creating "Our Heroes" wall filled with photos of our local veterans.

Annual Hike & Picnic

The third Sunday of every October the SHS sponsors a picnic followed by a hike.  In the past we have hiked up the side of the mountain to our local Salt Petre Cave, walked the "Carl Cessna Trail" which is part of the Mid State Trail.  We have visited the Imes Cemetery where legend has it that runaway slaves were buried with the Imes family.  We have also hiked to an old granary which was part of the resettlement land, which the state bought off the local landowners during the depression.

Fun was had by all who attended our first "Scan Old Photos Day" at the Senior Center on St. Patrick's Day 2015.
